MRI in organ-preserving strategies for rectal cancer
The most effective strategy for treating patients with rectal cancer is the total mesorectal excision. However, due to the high morbidity associated with this radical surgical procedure, surgeons might deem it as overtreatment in some cases. In this review, the authors set out to highlight the most relevant features radiologists should know when presenting information during the multidisciplinary discussion and final management decision.
